Meeting America's Energy Challenge is Subject of Rochester Environment Salute
America’s energy policy, and strategies to improve it, will be a focus of the 31st annual Community Salute to the Environment, Wednesday October 12 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Rochester. Sponsored by the Center for Environmental Information (CEI), the program will feature Paul Bledsoe, Director of Communications and Strategy for the National Commission on Energy Policy. Bledsoe will speak on “Ending the Energy Stalemate, a Bipartisan Strategy to meet America’s Energy Challenges.” A reception will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner and the program.
Nominations Sought For Silver Anniversary Environmental Quality Award
The Center for Environmental Information (CEI) is now accepting nominations for the 2005 Silver Anniversary Hugh E. Cumming Environmental Quality Award. Each year the award is presented to an individual, group or organization that has made a significant contribution to environmental protection, improvement or education in the Rochester-Genesee-Finger Lakes region.
Cindy Stachowski Named New CEI Executive Director
Cindy M. Stachowski has been appointed Executive Director of the Center for Environmental Information (CEI). Stachowski, most recently Executive Director of the TREE Fund in Champaign, IL, brings to CEI over twenty years of experience in nonprofit and natural resource management.
Lake Ontario Coastal Initiative Funded in FY 2005 Budget
The Lake Ontario Coastal Initiative (LOCI), spearheaded by the Center for Environmental Information (CEI), has received an additional $500,000 in the federal Fiscal Year 2005 budget as a result of funds earmarked by Congressman James T. Walsh.
