This Call for Proposals represents the first round of funding available to support local implementation projects consistent with LOCI’s mission and priorities identified in the Action Agenda.
The LOCI Local Implementation Grants Program provides U.S. Environmental Protection Agency funding for new, cooperative and local projects with the potential to measurably improve the coastal environment, including New York’s Lake Ontario embayments, rivers, creeks and their nearshore watersheds and that are consistent with the goals and objectives established by the Lake Ontario Coastal Initiative Action Agenda. The Local Implementation Grants Program supplements the Lake Ontario Coastal Initiative’s Small Grants Program for Research, which is aimed at increasing understanding of the coastal ecosystem.
The 2006 Local Implementation Grant Program is designed to respond within LOCI’s mission and capacity to local needs. LOCI Local Implementation Projects should address documented needs or problems, relate to one or more of the local priorities identified in the action agenda, be consistent with one of the 2006 funding categories described below, and show promise for realizing measurable environmental benefits. Due to a 12-month project implementation period, applicants must demonstrate that proposed projects have community support and can be accomplished in a timely fashion.
