Finger Lakes Energy Smart Communities

About Finger Lakes Energy $mart Communities

The Center for Environmental Information was awarded a contract by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to provide Energy $mart Communities Coordinator services for their Finger Lakes Region.

The New York Energy $mart Communities Program creates networks of organizations and agencies that contribute to energy-focused community projects.  The program shares economic, environmental and social benefits through energy efficiency and diversifying of energy resources.

Many of these efforts are concentrated in “Energy Target Zones” – neighborhoods or community sectors that could most benefit from energy efficiency.  NYSERDA contributes to Energy Target Zones through its current programs while the partnership organizations share local experience and resources.  Regional Coordinators facilitate the projects and the community partnership, helping to make the best match between the community’s needs and the partnership’s resources.
